Due to rainy weather, the city of Dublin has rescheduled its May 1 Dublin Clean event to May 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the city is calling for volunteers to make the event as successful as possible after taking a year off due to pandemic restrictions.
The event allows those living in the Dublin city limits to bring their trash and debris to the public works yard (602 N. Norton).
“We need all of the volunteers we can get,” said city code enforcement.
This includes trucks and trailers with drivers 18 years or older, people to work at the yard and people to help pick up items within the city limits.
Volunteers can sign up by calling 445-3331 or emailing customerservice@ ci.dublin.tx.us.
For their assistance, all volunteers will be provided with a free brisket lunch at the city park following the event. Volunteers will meet on the collection day at City Park at 7 a.m. and park vehicles there.
Items being accepted at the public works yard include televisions and CRT monitors, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, video game systems, cameras, sound systems, microwaves and appliances, as well as waste resulting from domestic operations such as household refuse, yard refuse, automotive parts, broken machinery and furniture.
Items that can’t be taken include chemicals, paint, bulbs, alkaline batteries, gasoline, oils, freon items, tires, and tire rims.
The Dublin Clean event was previously held in 2018 and 2019, gathering more than 40 tons of trash and debris in its first year and increasing the amount of containers filled in its second.
Anyone bringing items into the yard is asked to line up on Harris Street facing N. Norton (FM 847).
This special clean-up is being organized and assisted by the city of Dublin, Dublin EDC, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Keep Dublin Beautiful and Dublin ISD.
