Erath County officials reported three new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Monday, April 19 that was released the next morning.

Three of the positive cases were within the city limits of Stephenville while the other was a rural resident of the county.

Total deaths since March were reported at 68 by the Department of State Health Services.

Total COVID-19 cases increased by 6 (3,173 to 3,179) from the April 12 report to Monday night’s, while active cases decreased from 24 to 15.

Recovered cases were reported at 3,096 on Monday, up from 3,081 last week.

There were no current COVID-related hospitalizations in the county.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced the repeal of COVID social distancing restrictions and the facemak mandate on Tuesday. March 2, saying Texans could make up their mind about wearing facemasks and determine proper safety, Businesses were allowed to open at 100 percent capacity on Wednesday, March 10.

Erath County is continuing vaccine operations in the former site of the Stephenville JC Penney. Vaccines were opened to all adults on Monday with an estimated 800 set to receive vaccines that day. Residents may register at co.erath.tx.us or by calling (254) 459-5053 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Fridays.
