Concrete has been poured for the foundation of the new De Leon EMS Station. This station will be able to provide places for EMS personnel to sleep and protection for the ambulances. The new station will be located on the corners of Moseley and Reynosa.

Early voting will be located at the Comanche County Courthouse in Room B102. Early voting will take place from April 19 through April 27 with the first and last day being open for twelve hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) All remaining days will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A benefit was held for Springer and Brenda Courtney on Friday. The Courtney’s have found themselves in need after a motorcycle accident has them both laid up. The event was held at Crooked Creek Ranch and featured a live and silent auction, a meal and music by the Wes Nickson Band. The Courtney’s have been involved with Hamilton Volunteer Fire Dept. and Hamilton Helping Hands when responding to the needs of others, but after the accident the couple found themselves in need. Springer said, “I’ve never been one to ask for help. I’ve always been one to help, and it has been an adjustment to allow my pride to say, ‘heck yeah, I need help’”.

Four hundred FFA kids travelled to Hico from all over the state for the land and range judging on April 2. Photos of students involved graced the front page. The site for the contest is normally kept secret until the competition and this year Wayne Mazur’s ranch hosted the students.
