St. Pat’s returns with parade, music, more!

Dublin will soon be seeing green as the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration makes a return after being canceled in 2020 due to COVID restrictions.

A day of activities has been planned for Saturday, March 13 offering locals and guests a variety of fun things to do while still observing the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

Events include the Love Run 5K (hosted by Transformation Pathway), a disc golf tournament, live music downtown, the Market Days farmer’s market and a “Pot of Gold” raffle for Dublin patrons.

Parade

It will also include the return of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade with entries lining up at the Memorial Stadium on Grafton at 8:30 a.m. (Entries are eligible for judging for a $5 fee with winners receiving a gift basket and recognition on the downtown Corner Lot sign and social media.)

The parade will take its traditional route starting at 10 a.m., heading down Travis before turning left onto Patrick and proceeding all the through downtown.

Live Music

A variety of local and authentic Irish performers have been slated to perform starting at noon on March 13 with the headliner, Moon Dance (sponsored by Things Celtic) set to perform at 2 p.m.

Market Days

March 13 will mark the return of the popular Market Days to Wright Historic Park on Blackjack and S. Patrick. The market offering many homemade and home-grown finds will run from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. with live entertainment taking place under the neighboring pavilion.

Love Run 5K

The Transformation Pathway, Dublin’s Christian Women/Men Job Corps Love Run 5K and Fun Run was rescheduled to March 13 to accompany St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Organizers encourage everyone to bring the whole family, promising a fun event for all ages and fitness levels.

Registration to the 5K is $30 for runners 18 and over and $25 for runners under 18. Admission to the fun run/ walk is free.

Proceeds will go toward helping the ministry’s vision of making a positive impact on our community by offering a new pathway to reduce spiritual and economic poverty through mentoring, relationships, job preparedness and life skills, while teaching God’s word.

Book Signing

Transformation Pathway Volunteer and minister Cliff Sims will be present at Transformation Pathway at 11 a.m. to sign copies of his new book, “Surviving Spiritual Stress: Biblical Solution for Overcoming Life’s Stress Factors.”

Disc Golf Tournament

The newly-established Dublin Disc Golf Club is hosting the 2021 Shamrock Shootout at the City Park course at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.

The doubles tournament will include three divisions: beginner, advanced and open. Players are asked to bring their own partner with entry fees set at $25 per person. Fees will go toward the expansion of the nine-hole course to a full 18-hole course.

Rodeo

The renovations of the City Park Arena by Cody and Lacey McClinton in the past year have paved the way for the 2021 St. Patrick’s Day Rodeo, promising fun for all ages.

Admission to the event is $5 for patrons 10 and up with those nine years and younger admitted for free.

Open events for the rodeo include: Barrell Racing, Tie Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Team Roping and Bull Riding.

Junior events will include Mutton Busting, Calf Riding, Steer Riding and Bulls.

The rodeo will kick off at 2 p.m. and feature concessions by Buttz ~4~ Faith.
