Three people are up for re-election on the Comanche ISD Board with the last day to file being February 12. Kay Hagood is seeking re-election for Place Three, Harold Higginbotham is seeking re-election for Place 5 and Place 4 candidate Eric Garcia is also up for re-election. Applications can be sent by mail, email or fax or in person. Applications can be found at the Comanche ISD’s website.

The Mayoral seat along with three city council seats, two school board seats and one hospital board seats are up for election with the last day to file being February 12.Voters must be registered by April 1st to be eligible to vote. The election for these positions will be May 1st, with April 19th marking the beginning for early voting.
Hico News Review
Hico had been ranked one of the safest small towns in Texas, according to a report given to the City Council by Chief of Police Ronnie Ashmore. This report indicates that “There were zero murders, sexual assaults, robberies or aggravated assaults” reported in Hico during 2020. The report also indicates that the chance of someone becoming a victim in Hico is 1 in 231. Chief Ashmore concluded the report with “…We will strive to constantly improve our services to the citizens that live, work and shop our community…It is an honor to be of service to the people of Hico.”

The final day to file for seats in the upcoming election for DeLeon City Council, Comanche County Hospital Board and DeLeon ISD Board is Friday, February 12. Seats up for grabs on the City Council are Place 5 (held by Buddy Welch), Place 4 (held by Heather Armstrong), Place 3 (held by Laura Brown) and Place 1 (previously held by Larry Harlin before his recent resignation). School Board seats that are available are the ones held by Brandon Burrow and Nelda Priddy. Hospital Board seats include Place 1 (held by Gil Gilbert) and Place 4 (held by Joe Locke). Packets to be placed on the ballot can be picked up at the offices of each group.
