The Hico Volunteer Fire Department honored Rusty Cryer for his 45 years of service at the awards ceremony held at the Fire Hall last week. Others who were also honored included; Kobe Keller, 2020 Fireman of the Year; Garrett Flowers, 2020 Curtis Hyles Memorial Award; Robbie Robinson, 2020 Top Responder Award and 5 year Service Award. Other service awards included Dusty Johnson (5 years), Dillian Newman (5 years), Paul Adams (10 years),Mike McClammy (10 years), Caleb Duncan (15 years), and Chester Reynolds (20 years).

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new executive director after the resignation of Kim Hinton. The board has chosen to keep the chamber open while looking for a replacement. Vice president of the board, Matt Johnson, said “With her resignation and the current realities the board of directors had a difficult decision to make. With that being said we head into 2021 committed to continuing partnering with local businesses and organizations to benefit the Hamilton community.” Resumes will be accepted for this position through Feb. 5.

The General Election for Comanche County is set to be May 15 and positions to fill were announced. Two Comanche County City Council seats will be open as well as the Mayor’s seat.
