Dec. 24, 1920

A small article called “Fire Warning” was placed in the Dublin Progress warning readers that around the holiday’s fires are more prevalent due to fireworks, home décor, general celebrations and Christmas trees. The article stated that extra fire precautions should be taken during the holidays to prevent serious fires and fire related tragedies.

The Majestic was playing several films. The last showing of Captain Eddie featuring Fred MacMurray and Lynn Bara played on Friday; Saturday’s Matinee and night show was a double feature of Texas Masquerade and played Chapter 3 of The Jungle Queen; Sunday’s Matinee and night show was Shady Lady starring Charles Coburn, Ginny Simms and Robert Paige; The Girl of the Limberlost featuring Ruth Nelson and Loren Tindall played on Monday as a matinee and a night show; Life with Blondie with Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake played on Tuesday; Wednesday played Senorita from the West and Thursday and Friday featured Up in Mabel’s Room starring Gail Patrick, John Hubbard and Mischa Aues.

Dec. 24, 1970 A photo featured a hand

A photo featured a hand drawn picture of Santa riding a Holstein cow. Drawn by Donna Traweek the photo was accompanied with the caption reading “Why Reindeer?”

The Dublin Goodfellows delivered a record number of toys and food for families in need in the area assembling 176 food boxes and 455 sacks of toys.
