Postal deadlines announced

Body

With the arrival of December, the United States Postal Service has announced deadlines for customers needing to send Christmas gifts to other parts of the country and the world so they will be received by Dec. 25.

Global and military deadlines vary by area, and specific dates can be found at usps.com/ holiday/ holiday-shipping-dates. htm.

Deadlines to send international packages by Priority Mail International Express are Monday (except for Africa and Central and South America, for which the recommended ship-by dates have passed).

The deadline to send military packages by First Class Mail or Priority to any zone is tomorrow (except for 093 which had a shipping deadline of Dec. 9).

Those sending gifts to Alaska by First Class or Priority should send by Dec. 18 while those shipping to Hawaii should send by Monday.

Gifts being sent First-Class within the Continental US should send by Dec. 18. Priority packages are recommended to be shipped no later than Dec. 19. Priority Mail Express packages need to be shipped by Dec. 23 to arrive by Christmas Day.

Those sending gifts are encouraged to send sooner rather than later due to the increased postal activity happening this year.
