Erath County officials reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Thursday night (Oct. 29). Five of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville, one was from Dublin and two were rural residents of the county.
Total deaths since March were elevated from five to 15 to reflects numbers from the state. "Starting with this report we will show the same number of deaths as the Department of State Health Services" said Erath County Emergency Management Coordinator Susan Driskill, who added that the county is no longer receiving any information on COVID deaths.
The number of total cases increased by 84 in the past week, standing at 987 in the Oct. 22 report and 1,071 a week later.
Active cases increased from 141 to 144 in the past week while recovered cases increased from 841 on Oct. 22 to 912 in the report from Thursday night.
Two new hospitalizations were reported this week to increase the number of hospitalizations since March to 40.
County officials remind residents that according to the Texas Department of State Health Services, there are things everyone can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
-Wear a face covering in public
-Stay six feet apart
-Wash or sanitize hands often
-If sick, get tested and stay at home
-Stay home when possible
