Comanche County Genealogy Society meeting today

The Comanche County Genealogical Society will be meeting Thursday, October 8, at 7 p.m. at the Comanche Housing Authority Community Room located at 404 E Cedar. The program will consist of a video and discussion on “Safely Cleaning Headstones”. The meeting is open to anyone interested in attending.

Ranger hosting drone course

Ranger College will present a Drone Piloting Course, taking place Oct. 15 - 17, 2020, at Ranger College’s Erath County campus located at 1745 W. South Loop, Stephenville, TX 76401.

Ranger College is proud to bring the Drone Piloting Course to Stephenville and the surrounding communities through a grant awarded by Texas Workforce Commission.

The Drone Piloting Course will provide a comprehensive course to learn the basics of drone operation, and the FAA 107 regulations that guide the industry. Small businesses and sole proprietors may apply for grant funding to cover the cost of tuition and fees. A simple, two-page application is required, and Jennifer Ratajczyk, Ranger College Grant Coordinator, is available to assist with the completion of the application.

CTFS hosting BBQ fundraiser

Cross Timbers Family Services will host a BBQ fundraiser and open house on Thursday, Oct, 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Meat will be smoked by Fat Mary’s Catering and will include: beef brisket, pork butt, pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin butt and 2-meat plates (in limited quantities) with sides. The event is being sponsored by Fat Mary’s, Texas Beef Company, McCleery Family Durocs and Lone Star Ag Credit. Takeout meals can be purchased by visiting crosstimbershelps.org. Rodeo Museum serving up fundraiser

Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum has set Friday, Oct. 16 as the date for a drive-thru lunch as a fundraiser.

The lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the rear door of the Museum on North Park and will consist of a pulled pork sandwich, macaroni salad and beans with tea. Cost is $10.

Members of the board will also deliver.

Market Days return Oct. 17

The October forecast is for fine weather and a fabulous Dublin Market, Saturday, October 17. You’ll find a flock of favorite returning vendors plus some new ones to fill the park. Expect fixings for the Fall Fiesta and produce and products from the harvest. There will be hand-crafted togs, treasures, trinkets, and treats. The Market days have been fun, with music and eats to accompany an easy shopping stroll. Come early to Wright Park, Saturday, Oct. 17, 9AM until 1PM. Harbin VFD hosting Annual BBQ Fundraiser

The annual BBQ Fundraiser for the Harbin Volunteer Fire Dept. is on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Raffle tickets are a $1 and participants do not have to be present to win. Meals are by donation. For more information call Teresa at 254-485-5091.

BBQ Benefit set for Braden Edwards

A BBQ Supper and Live Auction will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10 for Braden Edwards.

Edwards was helping push a stranded vehicle on the interstate when he was struck, severing one leg and breaking the other. Edwards has undergone several surgeries and 100% of the proceeds from this event will help Edwards with medical and living expenses.

The benefit will be held at Rockin’ RJ Ranch in Stephenville and will begin at 7 p.m.

The Live Auction begins at 7:45.

Local donations can be arranged for pickup by calling 254-434-7719 or messaging Rockin’ RJ Ranch on Facebook.

Donations for the auction are welcome and appreciated. There will also be live music by Cheyenne Carrell and meals are by donation.
