When Elissa Tiscareno moved IAA from downtown Dublin to its new location behind the Welcome to Dublin sign on the north side of town, it felt like a natural progression in many ways.
“My goal in starting a business was to service our community,” Tiscareno said. In 2019, IAA stood for Insurance Advisors Agency as she helped clients with individual health insurance and worked remotely. She moved into the Ike Wade tax keeping office and she and her staff began to offer tax preparation as well as some bookkeeping for clients.
“Now the letters stand for something else,” she said— Insurance and Accounting Advisors.
Tiscareno said several of her clients are older so the steep curb and road construction was making it difficult for them coming into the office. The new wood cabin location offers more parking and a much smaller step up on to their front porch.
The extra parking is also a boon in their other service as a contractor offering fingerprinting for Identogo, a national background checking service.
IAA has worked with them for three years now. Tiscareno said they were getting 8-10 people needing printing per day when they first started and now have up to 25 people a day as people like medical professionals, childcare workers and concealed carry applicants seek the necessary background check.
IAA simply takes the person’s fingerprints which are scanned into a computer and sent to Identogo for processing before results are provided to the entity needing the background check.
“We don’t do anything else,”said Tiscareno, assuring the process is confidential and that she and her staff don’t see results.
Tiscareno is aided in her day-to-day work by office manager Adriana Juarez and gets assistance as needed from Melonie Curry and Idelsia Jimenez who manages the bookkeeping customers.
Tiscareno admits the new office is smaller so they’ve been digitizing files and paring down as needed but she’s found many advantages to the new building and the adjoining land she also owns.
She also said the location felt a bit like fate since it is behind the “Welcome to Dublin” shamrock near Allsup’s.
“One of my very first clients was Mary Yantis,” she recalled. Tiscareno said Yantis told her a lot about Dublin and gave her recommendations on activities to share with her children as they grew up. One such suggestion was taking photos in front of Texas’ picturesque courthouses when visiting other towns. It’s an activity Ellisa and family now do often.
“I just felt the warmth of her hospitality,” said Tiscareno.
The shamrock near her new office has a plaque in honor of Mary.
“I feel like that’s a little wink that I’m where I’m supposed to be,” she said.
Now she gets to share Dublin hospitality with clients right at the entrance to town.
IAA is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday.
