DISD reorganizes board; talks college hours

A brief Dublin ISD school board meeting was held Monday, May 11 with the swearing in of new board members, and the reorganization of the board.

Cole Leatherwood and incumbent Ryan Mitchell were sworn into office Monday night after being elected to the board in the May 2 election.

Board member Bob Cervetto was re-elected as president of the board, Anjelica Salyer as Vice President and Raymond Salinas as Secretary.

The board also presented a slew of awards (see page A14) and recognized retirees.

Superintendent Melissa Summers shared stats with the board about college credit hours and participation.

91 students earned a total of 1,061 dual credit hours. In the fall semester there were 87 students earning 516 hours and, in the spring, 82 students earned 545 hours.

She also reported community service hours.

Seniors, throughout their four years of high school, have donated 3,634 hours of community service with 1,762 this year alone.

The freshman class has donated 101.5 hours, sophomore class 93 hours, juniors 983.75 hours this year.

With all four classes, students have donated a total of 2,940.75 hours this school year.

“We want to thank you for teaching them to be good citizens,” Summers said to administrators and parents.
