The Gaudettes make the grade

Dublin Citizen Editors Paul Gaudette and Wyndi Veigel-Gaudette were recently selected as two of 50 Texas journalists to be placed on the Texas Association of School Boards 2026 Media Honor Roll.

This program recognizes Texas journalists for fair, accurate, and balanced reporting on public education.

Honorees represent newspapers, radio, television, and digital outlets and are selected by their local school districts.

Districts base their selections on a journalist’s efforts to build strong working relationships with the superintendent, board president, and district leadership, as well as a demonstrated commitment to covering campus and district events.

“Public education thrives when communities understand what’s happening inside our schools,” said TASB Executive Director Dan Troxell. “These journalists take the time to report with context, ask thoughtful questions, and tell the full story of the challenges and successes shaping our students’ experiences.”

Superintendent Melissa Summers and the school board presented the award to the journalists at the April 27 school board meeting.

“Let it be resolved, that the Board of Trustees of the Dublin Independent School District place the names of Paul Gaudette and Wyndi Veigel-Gaudette of The Dublin Citizen on the statewide 2026 Media Honor Roll, calling attention to the ongoing responsible and exemplary nature of reporting on this community’s public schools. We express our appreciation for your balanced and accurate approach to sharing with this community both the challenges facing our schools and the successes achieved by the teachers and students. Your work has aided this community in focusing on the goal of providing the best public schools we can for every child who attends them,” Summers said in presenting the award to Wyndi. “Thank you and Paul, very much.”
