In an evening filled with cowboy hats and haute couture (western style), one goal was on the minds of many: to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network and Cook’s Children’s Hospital.

Though final totals are not in yet, many funds were raised for the organization in the 9th annual Simply Dangerous event hosted by Lily G Arena Productions Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Tarleton Ballrooms. Organizer Rick Taylor reported that donations routinely come in for several weeks after the event.

“It was a great success with terrific entertainment and a sold-out crowd,” said Taylor.

Both Frank Sharpe with the original Texas Longhorn herd at Fort Griffin and Scott Knudsen (known as the Cowboy Entrepreneur) spoke about how important western heritage and cattle are to Texas.

Along with dinner, entertainment, an auction and style show, several Dubliners received awards at the event.

Dublin Dairy Queen received the Top Hand Business for all they do for the community and Dublin Golden Chick received Sponsor of the Year for the efforts they provide for the organization.

Heather Anderson was awarded Citizen of the Year for all of her efforts with Young Patriots of America and bringing Conservative Christian values to local events. She was also praised for stepping in to organize many events in the past year as a newcomer to both Texas and the area.

Ashley Hollingsworth received the Top Hand award and Paul Kirko Jr. received the Mason Brooks Humanitarian award.

Kirko, who has written books about overcoming difficult life situations and addictions, spoke about his journey and encouraged others who may be struggling that it can be done, and that family is worth it.

The lifetime achievement award was presented to Gaylene Rushfeldt, Best Newcomer was awarded to Julius Taylor and Entertainer of the Year was presented to Devon Dawson.

The popular Bill Mack Communications Award went to Erin Wilde with 92.1 Hank FM for not only her efforts in radio, but also giving back to the community.

“We want to thank Rope Your Style in Early for all their efforts,” Taylor said, adding the business was an excellent partner in providing the westernwear for the style show and working hard in organizing their portion of the evening.

Entertainers for the event included Teresa Burleson, Miss Devon and The Outlaw, Maddie Pendleton, Jaci Barham, Julius Taylor along with featured artist Zach Foster.

Ms. Lilly G Texas 2025 Kellen Rushfeldt and Miss Lilly G Texas 2025 Shelby Gunter were recognized for their service.
