Dublin’s Dalton Kasel was treated to a special celebration Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Doublin’ In as the City and Chamber of Commerce officially presented the rodeo champion with the declaration of Dalton Kasel Day.

The Dublin City Council officially signed the declaration on Jan. 13, 2025 but Kasel, as is often the case, was traveling to compete that day. Fortunately, he was home to celebrate on the anniversary.

“It surprised me for sure,” Kasel said of the honor. “It’s not something I threw my hat in to get.”

Despite the accolades he has received as a professional bullrider, Kasel said he’s not often comfortable in the spotlight. Still, the Muleshoe native was grateful to his local neighbors and said he and his family have felt welcome since moving to Dublin three years ago.

“It was neat to see the people that came out,” Kasel added of the celebration. “I went to Granny Clark’s yesterday and a bunch of people congratulated me.”

When the council approved the resolution, Kasel had just led the Austin Gamblers to a team Professional Bull Riders World Championship victory in October 2024. (He also was Rookie of the Year in 2019.)

Kasel has earned several triumphs since then.

Friday, Jan. 16 “Mr. 90 Point” clocked his 50th 90+ point score while riding in Milwaukee and his 48th career win. As he headed into a Florida competition this weekend, Kasel was second in the world in PBR rankings, a mere 2 points behind Julio Cesar Marques. After a fourth place finish in Tampa, Kasel jumped up to first in the rankings above Sage Steele Kimzey and Marques.

Kasel is focusing on winning every weekend to make it to the solo world championships in May.

“By the end of the year, my goal is to be world champion,” he said. “That’s been the goal since I started. You have to stay persistent.”

Kasel said he also puts his trust in the Lord, expressing gratitude for his experiences so far and trusting He will put him where he needs to be.
