Dublin powerlifters traveled to Hico Thursday, Jan. 22 for the invitational meet to kick off their season with the Lady Lions placing first as a team and Lions claiming third.
Leading the way for the girls’ gold were Cassidy Adair and Candy Rodriguez. Adair placed first in the 198 with a total of 1,000 pounds lifted (360 bench press, 295 squat, 345 dead lift). Rodriguez placed first in the 165 with a total of 735 (275 bench press, 185 squat, 275 dead lift).
Also adding to the overall finish were: Jessa Bamber, 2nd in the 97 with a total of 535 (200 bench press, 125 squat, 210 dead lift) Samantha Martinez, 3rd in the 97 with a total of 405 (150 bench press, 80 squat, 175 dead lift) Chloe Sullivan, 3rd in the 242 with a total of 535 (185 bench press, 135 squat, 215 dead lift) Hailie Whitworth, 4th in the 181 with a total of 300 (155 bench press, 100 squat, 135 dead lift) Nomi Thompson, 5th in the 132 with a total of 580 (235 bench press, 120 squat, 225 dead lift) Top Lion lifters at the meet were Paul Adams, Cayson Loving and Jayden Balvantin. Adams got second in the 123 with a total of 675 (270 bench press, 135 squat, 270 dead lift). Loving placed second in the 165 with a total of 1,070 (395 bench press, 215 squat, 460 dead lift). Balvantin was second in the 275 with a total of 1,225 (465 bench press, 315 squat, 445 dead lift) Other lifters who added to the placement were: Yovany Ortiz, 3rd in the 123 with a total of 655 (225 bench press, 155 squat, 275 dead lift) Juan Alvarez, 3rd in the 275 with a total of 1,110 (430 bench press, 245 squat, 435 dead lift) Riley Kemp, 5th in the 181 with a total of 830 (285 bench press, 205 squat, 340 dead lift)
