TxDOT issues update

Though everyone in Dublin is probably asking Santa for less construction, an update from TxDOT was provided to the Dublin Citizen last week.

“Work on the Business 377 (Patrick Street) project has resumed after a short time delay awaiting the manufacture and delivery of culverts to be installed under the roadway to improve drainage at Live Oak Street,” TxDOT Public Information Officer Bethany Kurtz said last week.

Last week, Patrick Street from Elm Street to Blackjack reopened to two-way traffic. Work on the permanent traffic signals at Blackjack and Patrick is underway as well.

After Patrick Street reopened south of Blackjack Street, work moved north of the intersection between Blackjack and Live Oak Street.

These new blockades have caused problems for Brookshire Brothers and other downtown businesses as parking has been limited on Live Oak.

Brookshire Brothers took to social media to tell customers they were still open, and it was OK to go around the first set of barricades to access the parking lot.

“Work will continue through December,” Kurtz continued. “After a regularly scheduled holiday break between Christmas and New Year’s, work will resume in early January.”

Currently, there is TxDOT, Atmos Energy, NextLink, Brightspeed, utility crews and city crews doing construction in the city, as well as a roofing company doing a complete overhaul on all ISD school buildings.

“We just want the community to understand we struggle with them, and have little to no control over closures,” Interim City Manager and Police Chief Cameron Ray said.
