Linda Janice Gardner

Linda Janice Garner was born May 7,1941 in Stephenville, Texas to Jay and Jayne Currier and received her wings Sept. 25, 2025.

Janice fought a 21-year battle with cancer that ended peacefully at the Comanche County Medical Center.

Janice grew up in rural Erath County. She attended school in Clairette and Selden. She enjoyed sharing memories of the turkey farms and adventures with her Koonsman cousins. Eventually, the family moved to Stephenville, where she graduated in 1960.

After graduation, Janice took a job at a sewing factory in Dublin where she was introduced to a bundle boy named Jack.

They were married Dec. 20, 1963. Together they raised two daughters, Vonda and Karen.

Jack’s job took the family to Lovington, New Mexico and then to Rankin. While in Rankin, her love of sewing led to a business, Janice’s Lingerie and Fabric. Jack and Janice returned to Dublin when he retired in 1986. Janice went back to work at a sewing factory in Stephenville until her retirement.

Anyone who knew Janice, knew she loved to have fun. She had a big laugh and a bigger smile. She enjoyed her friends and family tremendously. Janice and her sister, Ann, organized the Koonsman Family Reunion for several years. It was an event she always looked forward to. She truly cherished her family and friends. She loved going to lunch, sometimes overly competitive games, or just visiting with her friends. Janice loved her family and friends and showed it in many ways. Her toughness and determination has been an inspiration to many, and she will be greatly missed.

Her survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jack and two daughters, Vonda of Rankin and Karen, of Dublin: sister Ann Riley; four nephews and a niece and their spouses. She is also survived by many friends who have grown to be family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Jayne Currier.

The family would like to give special thanks to Allison Blackman, Mary Randals, Heidi Craddick, Stanley and Betty Anderson, Nancy Page, and Gene and Cathy Riley for all of their help. We would also like to thank Dr. Miller and the Staff at DeLeon Nursing and Rehab Center for taking care of her.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Proctor Cemetery.

Donations can be made in Linda’s name to the Walker Cancer Center at 1501 Burnet Road Brownwood, Texas 76801 Attn: Gail Hightower or any charity of their choice.
