Vernon Lynn Salyer, known to many as Lynn, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on September 13, 2025, in Mayhill, New Mexico. He was 66 years old.

Born on July 26, 1959, in Dublin, Texas, Lynn built a life marked by dedication to his craft, service to his community, and deep love for his family. After graduating from the Ogle School of Hair, he launched a successful career as a hairstylist. His talent and commitment led him to open V-Lynn’s, a thriving beauty shop in Dublin where he earned the trust and loyalty of countless clients.

Lynn’s devotion to his community extended beyond his profession. He served with pride and enthusiasm in the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department for many years. His sense of duty and camaraderie left a lasting impression on those who served alongside him.

In 1994 Lynn and his family relocated to Mayhill, New Mexico. There, he continued his hairstyling career by opening V-Lynn’s Beauty Shop, quickly becoming a favorite among locals for both his skill and warm personality. After retiring from the salon business, Lynn took on a new role as the Mountain Propane representative and driver for the Sacramento Mountain area. Rain or snow, he faithfully delivered propane across rugged mountain roads—a demanding and often dangerous job that he performed with unwavering dedication until his retirement.

Lynn’s passion for service continued in Mayhill through his involvement with the Mayhill Volunteer Fire Department. He also shared his love of motorcycles by serving as a motorcycle safety instructor in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

An avid motorcyclist throughout his life, Lynn cherished time spent riding with friends and especially enjoyed making birthday bike trips to visit his mother in Texas. He found joy in outdoor adventures— camping and exploring Jeep trails during vacations in Silverton, Colorado—and never missed an annual family gathering in Rocksprings, Texas. Thanksgiving was a treasured holiday for him. He also enjoyed target shooting and welcomed any challenge that came his way.

Lynn is survived by his wife Lori Jeanne Sellers; daughter Aleisha Jennes; son Jordan Salyer and his wife Ashley; two grandchildren, Alchemy and Grayson; stepson Paul Sellers and stepgrandson Derrick Sellers. He is also survived by his mother Merrill Strielger; brother Eddie Salyer and his wife Michelle and their son Patrick; sister Chris Fine and her husband Ricky and their daughter Shayla with her husband Neil and their two sons.

He was preceded in death by his father Clay Salyer; stepfather Allan Striegler; and former wife Shirley Gail Barren.

Over the years in Dublin and in Mayhill, Lynn made many friends through both work and community involvement. He was always ready to lend a hand or share a story. His outgoing nature and love of life touched many.

We are grateful that his passing into heaven was peaceful. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
