This weekend marks the 109th annual De Leon Peach and Melon Festival, and festival goers are anticipating finding all kinds of sweet treats at the event.
Peach and Melon Festival will kick off Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. with the judging of 4-H cake entries at the Festival Stage followed by the judging of peach desserts at noon and the judging of melons and fruits at 1 p.m. all on the festival stage.
At 3 p.m. there will be the Queen’s Tea hosted by the De Leon Study Club and then the first night of the Triple T Amusement Carnival will kick off at the Midway.
At 7 p.m. on the Festival Stage, the pageant for Little Miss and the Peach and Melon Queen will be held followed by the melon and cake auction.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, the carnival will once again be in full swing starting at 6 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. there will be a Kiddie Tractor Pull.
On Friday, Aug. 8 the fun continues with another night of the carnival at 6 p.m. and the OTTPA and TTTPA Tractor Pull will start at 8 p.m. in the Festival Arena.
Pre-sale Friday and Saturday Tractor Pull/Pit Pass are available with General Admission for $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. Presale Pit passes are available for $30 or at the gate for $40.

Golden Saturday, Aug. 9, will kick off with the annual Peach and Melon Parade at 9 a.m. in De Leon, followed by Golden Saturday festivities at 10 a. m.
The annual ex-student reunion will be held at De Leon High School at 11 a.m., followed by a seed spitting contest in downtown at noon. Free watermelon slicing will take place at 1 p.m. in downtown, and the carnival will reopen at 6 p. m.
At 8 p.m., the OTTPA and TTTPA Tractor Pulls will take place again in the Festival Arena and at 10 p.m. Miss De Leon will be announced at the Festival Stage.
