In loving memory of Carl Lee Woolsey.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our Daddy‘s life was tragically taken on Aug. 24, 2020 at his home in Comanche, Texas at the age of 71. After a lengthy process, we are finally able to peacefully honor him with a proper burial.
Carl was born on Jan. 2, 1949 in Comanche, Texas to his parents, A.D. and Alma (Johnson) Woolsey. He grew up in Carlton, Texas, and was among the last senior class to graduate from Carlton high school. We’ve been told, by former classmates, that he was a basketball “star” back in the day. He was an Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War where he received several medals, including a sharpshooter (rifle) medal. He was Honorably discharged on March 15, 1972.
He was known for spending time with his family, playing his guitar and singing, playing poker with family (once in 1978 for 38 hrs straight), watching football as a true fan of the Cowboys and 49ers, and fishing every chance he could get.
He will be remembered for his contagious, loud laugh, watching old westerns, and his love for music, but only the “oldies” - country and western, Buddy Holly, Elvis, gospel and Fats Domino.
He always sang along. Most of all, he will be remembered for his Unconditional Love for his two daughters and ; grandchildren, his ability to never meet a stranger, and his big, generous heart that made him always willing to help anyone in need. He will be missed by many friends and family.
He leaves behind a legacy of showing kindness, love and generosity, as well as a deep enjoyment and appreciation of the simple things in life. His daughters often referred to him as a Simple Man.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, A.D. & Alma Woolsey; brothers: Jerry Wayne Woolsey, Edwin (Bubba) Woolsey, Kenneth Woolsey, Charles Woolsey; sister: Beverly Woolsey; Paternal and Maternal grandparents, as well as many uncles and aunts.
