RD fundraiser set May 3

This Saturday, citizens have the chance to go back to the ‘90s while supporting a great cause with Revitalize Dublin’s 2nd annual fundraiser.

The nonprofit, whose mission is to beautify Dublin, will host the event Saturday, May 3 with 90s rock tribute band One Headlight at Backwoods.

Two VIP tables are remaining for the event for $150 for six people which will include great seats, dedicated wait staff for the event and a $30 credit for the silent auction.

The doors open at 3 p.m. giving music goers the chance to get a bite to eat with less crowds. Though there is no cover charge, donations will be taken at the door and 20% of all food sales will be donated back to Revitalize Dublin by Backwoods.

A silent auction will open at 6 p.m. with some great items donated by area businesses including 50% off one appliance (a washer and dryer count as one) at Giffords, beautiful plants donated by Texas Sage and a wide array of other fun items.

The auction will close at 9 p.m.

“We will have a better payout system this year,” Revitalize Dublin President Lori Beggs said. Cash, check and electronic payments (with a fee) will be accepted.

There will also be cornhole games set up outside Backwoods.

At 7 p.m. One Headlight will take the stage and at 8 p.m. the Mr. Legg Sexiest Legs Contest will take place. Any guys who want to enter the contest are advised not to skip leg day and get their gams stage ready. No pre-registration is required.

Last year’s event helped the nonprofit to fund several items including the banners and poles that hang in downtown, and are changed for holidays. They have also used funds to start a home improvement grant program.

RD recently kicked off a home improvement grant program aimed at helping home owners and the community by beautifying local properties.

The grants – up to $500 – allow for a 50/50 match when residents complete exterior painting, wood repairs, windows or landscaping such as bushes, trees or seasonal flowers.

To apply for the grants, go to revitalizedublin. com/grants and print an application. Applications can then be returned into the Revitalize Dublin drop box at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce or email revitalizedublin@ gmail. com.

Funds raised at the event may also go towards lawn care assistance for those who need it, home improvement projects (such as wheelchair ramps) or future large scale projects such as a town Christmas tree or a tourism sign like the one Hico has.

“We really want to use funds to help homeowners in Dublin,” Beggs said.

The organization is actively seeking home improvement cleanup projects. Anyone who wishes to submit a project can do so by contacting Beggs, Rod McNeal or by emailing revitalizedublin@gmail.com.

“We can’t wait to see everyone Saturday and hope everyone has a great time,” she said.
