Joe Wallace was presented with the Golden Trowell Award at the Dublin Masonic Lodge in a special ceremony on his 77th birthday, Tuesday, March 11. It was announced that Wallace has served as a mason for “49.66 years” and was eligible for the award because of the quality of his service to the community and his character with treasurer Ken Lunsford reading the lodge does not guarantee the award to all Masons for a certain term of service. Stanley Anderson remarked that the Golden Trowell is the highest award that can be given to a Mason. The meeting hall was fi lled with Wallace’s neighbors, fellow church goers, family, Masons from Dublin and other lodges and District Deputy Grand Master Buddy Stephens, all of which spoke highly of Joe. Joe was escorted by his wife, Cheryl as he was commended before Anderson presented him with the award.
