Signups for the annual Dublin Chamber of Commerce Ambassador pageant is now underway and this year the pageant is full of changes geared to make the experience even better for the young ladies participating.
Little Miss Dublin will be held at 7 p.m. March 13 and Junior Miss and Miss Dublin will be held March 14. The location is still being determined.
Pageant organizer Sarah McNeal-Weaver and her team said this year’s event is focused on the event being fruitful, educational and fun while reminiscing about former pageants.
“We want to bring back the sweetness of being involved in the pageants,” she said.
Those wanting to register for the pageant can pick up applications from the schools or from the Dublin Chamber of Commerce Office located in Blackjack Office Center.
The ages of those allowed to participate have been slightly altered to make judging easier. Miss Dublin is open to sophomore through senior girls, Junior Miss Dublin is open to 5th and 6th graders and Little Miss Dublin is open to kindergarten through first grade.
Pageant practice times have also changed from Sundays to Wednesdays to allow those families who are in co-parenting situations with two households to participate more easily. The pageants have also been moved before SpringBreaktoaccommodate those who are leaving town.
Orientation will held February 5 at 5:30 p.m. for Little Miss and 6:30 p.m. for Junior Miss and applications can be turned in then at the old Dublin ISD auditorium.
This year pageant organizers are also providing enrichment courses for contestants including interviewing skills, resume building, makeup and skin care and more.
“It’s not just about a beauty pageant,” McNeal-Weaver said. “We want them to leave with confidence and an education even if they don’t walk away with a crown.”
The winners of Miss Dublin will receive college scholarships and the chamber is looking to increase those amounts this year.
Crowns are being provided by Pam Crabtree of Golden Butterfly and sashes are being provided by Betty Rollins of B&H Custom Crafts.
Currently, the chamber is looking for sponsors to aid in putting together a terrific pageant. Anyone wanting to sponsor the pageant can contact Sarah at 254-4859391.
This year’s pageant committee includes McNeal-Weaver, Summer Stone, Brenna Dominguez, Mindy Garner, Nancy Williams, NavaLee White and Sarah Resendiz.
