Thunderous applause and laughter could be heard through the hallways at Lingleville ISD as the ribbon was cut for a book vending machine.
Mrs. Alexa Garrison and Mrs. Lisa Haley welcomed everyone during the six weeks awards assembly as they moved towards the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Last year our school was gifted with a donation and opportunity to bring something new and exciting to the students of Lingleville ISD. When the idea was first presented, we were already blown away, but once we were able to begin the design process and see it come to life, the joy, excitement and tears began flowing,” Garrison said. “A new dream of bringing something out of the ordinary to our students was quickly becoming a reality, and we have been patiently waiting to get started with it! Our generous donor put so much love and dedication into working on getting the process started for us, and I know I said it a million times, but we honestly cannot thank you enough. From the entire students and staff at LISD, thank you.”
The book vending machine will be used as an incentive for not only academics, but for behaviors and random acts of kindness.
“We hope to continue promoting good citizenship not only across campus, but into our community as well,” she said.
The Book Vending Machine was officially welcomed into the cafeteria of the Lingleville Elementary School as a bright yellow ribbon fluttered to the floor.
250 books are currently inside the machine including a variety of classics, chapter books, Spanish books, picture books and activity books.
Kids who do well are presented with a token which will get them a book from the machine.
