The Dublin Lady Lions came within striking distance of a win against Millsap Friday, Jan. 17 following a tough loss to Tolar.
“We came out strong against Tolar,” said head Dublin girls basketball coach Kim Perez of the Tuesday, Jan. 14 matchup. “We ran a triangle and 2. It worked well but [we] didn’t box out and rebound so that did not help us. They got too many second chance opportunities.”
Adriana Stewart led Dublin scoring with 11. Olivia Salyer had 7, Emma Vargas had 4, NavaLee White and Haden Keilers had 3 and Wendy Calderon had 1. Tolar claimed the game 73-29.
The Lady Lions followed this up with a much closer 43-37 loss to Millsap, putting up a tough fight.
Dublin started strong with 14 in the first quarter but Perez reported they got cold in the second and third before scoring 11 to Millsap’s 13 in the fourth.
Stewart led again with 17 followed by White with 8. Vargas had 5, Salyer had 4 and Adriana Rosalez had 3.
