A beautiful, quaint and affordable venue is now open is downtown Dublin as Doublin’ In had its ribbon cutting Saturday, Dec. 7 amidst Christmas activities in the space.
The space, located at the corner of Elm and Grafton Streets (110 E. Elm), is owned by Rod and Miles McNeal, and Sarah McNeal-Weaver, acts as the booking agent for the performance and event venue.
The structure was built in 1896 and may have been one of the first buildings in Dublin, Rod said. Early Sanborn Fire Maps show the building as a gambling establishment.
Purchasing the building two years ago, Rod knew he wanted to restore the older building while maintaining its character and beauty.
“Miles has lived in numerous cities including New Orleans so he wanted to keep the old charm for the facility,” Sarah said.
The McNeal family also constructed the event venue with the citizens of Dublin in mind, wanting to offer an affordable space with elements of convenience.
The venue is open air with a bar, handmade bar stools and tables. It will comfortably fit 60 people at tables with much more space than that for a standing event.
“It’s honestly the perfect venue for a graduation party, a baby shower, a birthday party etc.,” Sarah said. “It’s great for those who want a spot for smaller intimate outdoor event.”
Sarah said it would also be perfect for a large family who wanted to have a catered meal together and didn’t want to have it at someone’s home.
“It’s nice to have an affordable place to have a big meal,” she said.
Fees to rent the facility are a $300 refundable cleaning deposit and $150 for a day, which includes tables and chairs, and heaters if they are needed.
Tents can also be placed inside in the event of rain and a restroom is available next to the venue. Parking is next to the venue with a city lot and additional parking across the street.
“We wanted to become a venue to encourage people to come together not to make money,” she said.
Alcohol is allowed for consumption inside the building, but it cannot be sold.
Those interested in booking the venue can contact the establishment through Doublin’ In on Facebook.
