Spooktacular Halloween events today

Goblins, cats, bats and ghosts (along with assorted Marvel characters) will be out in full force this week for Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31.

There will be several events to choose from this week.

The downtown Safe Trick or Treat will begin at 5 p.m. through 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. The event will showcase businesses handing out candy and treats for Halloween.

The Stephenville Area Elk’s Lodge will be hosting a trunk or treat on Elm Street on Halloween beginning at 5 p.m. There will be two judging categories – Elks and the public. There will be prize money for first place in five different categories.

There is a $10 entry fee for those competing in the contest with the proceeds going to the Sweetheart Fund to help out disadvantaged and special needs children.

The event is free to trick or treaters who want to gather candy.

For those wanting to participate in communitywide trick or treating by handing out candy, a candy map has been created. The candy map will be shared on social media through The Dublin Citizen, Dublin TX Chatter, Revitalize Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. It will also be physically pinned to the Crime Scene Bulletin Board on Grafton Center.

The candy map is sponsored by Revitalize Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

There will also be a virtual costume contest sponsored by TheDublinCitizen, theDublin Chamber of Commerce, and Dairy Queen.

The costume contest is open to all ages Oct. 25 through Oct. 31 and there are cash prizes and gift cards. Submit photos to composing@dublincitizen. com and include the name and age of the participant.

There will also be a couple of events prior to Halloween.

Dairy Queen will be offering “spookalicious treats” through Oct. 31 with kids’ meals for $3.99.

Harris Old West Pumpkin Patch, located at 1063 CR 304 in Dublin, is open each Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dark and on Halloween.

There are live farm animals, chuck wagon food, games, hay rides, pumpkins and longhorn skulls for sale, photo opportunities and leashed dogs are welcome.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

Got unwanted candy or maybe you got too much?

Drop off your candy at the Dublin Public Library for the community’s Easter egg hunt hosted by Dairy Queen, the Dublin Citizen and CWJC in 2025. Candy will be securely stored until it’s time to stuff eggs. Candy may be donated starting Nov. 1.
