Halloween events are abounding in Dublin and Dubliners have a few opportunities to gather some treats and spooky fun.
All the community-wide trick or treating, downtown Safe Trick or Treat and Trunk or Treat event by the Stephenville Area Elk’s Lodge will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 on Halloween.
The downtown Safe Trick or Treat will begin at 5 p.m. through 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. The event will showcase businesses handing out candy and treats for Halloween. If you are a business in the community that is not located downtown, but would like to participate, please contact the chamber for a free spot by calling 254445-3422.
The Stephenville Area Elk’s Lodge will be hosting a trunk or treat on Elm Street on Halloween beginning at 5 p.m. There will be two judging categories – Elks and the public. There will be prize money for first place in five different categories.
There is a $10 entry fee for those competing in the contest with the proceeds going to the Sweetheart Fund to help out disadvantaged and special needs children.

The event is free to trick or treaters who want to gather candy.
For those wanting to participate in communitywide trick or treating by handing out candy, a candy map is being created. For those wanting to share their address so trick or treaters know to visit, follow the QR code that is provided on page A3 or call Amanda Christman at 267-400- 9563. Deadline to be included on the map is Oct. 27 and the map will be distributed Oct. 29 on The Dublin Citizen Facebook page, Dublin TX Chatter and physically on the Crime Scene Bulletin Board on Grafton Center.
The candy map is sponsored by Revitalize Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
There will also be a virtual costume contest sponsored by The Dublin Citizen, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, and Dairy Queen.
The costume contest is open to all ages Oct. 25 through Oct. 31 and there are cash prizes and gift cards. Submit photos to composing@dublincitizen. com and include the name and age of the participant.
There will also be a couple of events prior to Halloween.
Harris Old West Pumpkin Patch, located at 1063 CR 304 in Dublin, is open each Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dark and on Halloween.
There are live farm animals, chuck wagon food, games, hay rides, pumpkins and longhorn skulls for sale, photo opportunities and leashed dogs are welcome.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
The Dublin Public Library is asking citizens if they can escape the phantom pages in its haunted library themed escape room.
The event is open from Oct. 22 through Oct. 31 with various time slots. Cost is $5 for adults or $3 for those with library cards. Children under 18 are $3.

Backwoods will be hosting a Halloween Bash Saturday, Oct. 26 for both kids and adults alike.
From 6-8 p.m. there will be a free kid’s carnival on the porch with games and prizes. Adult beverages will be available. There is also a kid’s meal available for $5 including a hot dog, chips and a drink.
From 9 p.m. until midnight, an 18 and up party will take place with a costume contest, drink specials and DJ David playing dance music.
The winner of the costume contest will receive $750 at use at Wicked Clover and 2nd place will receive $300 to use at Wicked Clover.
