Electronics Recycling event Saturday, Oct. 12 
There will be an electronics recycling event 9 a.m. to noon in Stephenville Saturday, Oct. 12 hosted by the city of Stephenville and Erath County.

The event is open to all Erath County residents and the event is held at 1201 Glen Rose Road in Stephenville.

Accepted electronics include (but are not limited to) computers, televisions, video games, video tapes, christmas lights, microwaves, cell and office phones, toner and ink cartridges, digital cameras, fitness equipment, batteries of all kinds, printers, copiers, fax machines and more.

Texas Folklore Society hosts Lomax on Lomax Show Thursday, Oct. 10
For more than 140 years, four generations of Lomaxes have been finding, recording, promoting, preserving and presenting unique American music. In a solo, acapella act, John Lomax III will discuss the family legacy and perform some of the most influential songs collected and preserved by the family. Mark your calendar now! Silent Hitchcock Film offered at W.K. Gordon 
Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center will present Alfred Hitchcock’s “Easy Virtue,” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, as part of Movie Night at the Museum.

The 1928 British silent film is a romance starring Isabel Jeans, Franklin Dyall and Ian Hunter. After Larita Filton (Jeans) is unjustly accused of having an affair, her husband divorces her and she flees to the south of France to escape the publicity. There, she falls in love and hopes to start afresh but her would-be fiancé’s mother has other ideas when they find out about her past.

Annual Genealogy Workshop Friday, Oct. 18 
Erath County Genealogy Society and Dublin Public Library invite you for a day of learning about family history research from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at the Dublin Public Library. Join us for speakers, research help, door prizes, lunch and snacks. Topics include: Getting Started; Writing Your Family History; Breaking Brick Walls; Texas General Land Office; U.S. Naturalization; Colonial Ancestors; Digitization to Preserve Family History; Irish Immigration.

Stephenville Masonic Lodge to host chili cookoff, blood drive Oct. 19 
The Stephenville Masonic Lodge will host a chili cookoff and blood drive Saturday, Oct. 19 at the lodge (244 S. Columbia).

Entry fees for the cook-off are $20 with prizes awarded for first and second place. Everyone is invited to come enjoy chili, cornbread and ice cream with tickets set at $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 10. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Benevolent Aid and High School scholarships. The event will also feature an open house and door prizes.

The cook-off will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the blood drive held in conjunction with the Scottish Rite and Carter Bloodcare will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For cook-off info, call (254) 977-4197. — submitted

Historical Museum hosts Sports Heroes Day 
The Comanche County Historical Museum invites everyone to the 2nd Comanche County Sports Heroes Day from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, located at 402 Moorman Rd. in Comanche.

The museum will possibly have special guests with former professional sports heroes with memorabilia and trophies on display. There will be videos of past sports heroes on the museum's touch screen experience. Call 325-356-5115 for more information.  — submitted

Dublin ISD will be honoring veterans Monday, Nov. 11 at the High School.

Fish Day set for Saturday, Oct. 12
Fish Day hosted by the Stephenville Area Elks Lodge No. 2834 will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at Copperas Creek at Lake Proctor.
The free annual fishing day and water safety event is open to kids ages 8-13 and their guardians. Free lunch will be provided and a water safety program will be provided by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Kingdom Threads to host free Winter Coat Drive
Kingdom Threads will be hosting its winter coat giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26 at First Baptist Church.
There will be free clothes, shoes, hats, coats, bags, scarves, gloves and other accessories too for all ages! All items are free of charge.

Cow Creek Cemetery Association hosts meeting, potluck Oct. 12
