Dublin PD promotes 3

Dublin PD announced the promotion of three of its officers on Sept. 19, making the department more well-rounded for all of its officers.

“This solidifies our goal of professionalism as a progressive law agency,” said Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray. “This puts more supervision out for younger officers. A lot of times we hire younger officers and they have questions. Now there will be a supervisor most of the day.”

Khris Jennings was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Jennings first started working with the department in 2013 as dispatch and was sworn in as an officer in January 2017. This promotion gives Jennings the ability to aid Chief Ray and the department more. “Lt. Jennings is always there to answer the phone call,” Ray said. “He runs the place in my absence, and I couldn’t ask for a better second in command.”

Jacob Ivie was promoted from Corporal to Sergeant. He has been with the department for 11 years with six of those as a School Resource Officer. “Sgt. Ivie has taken the SRO program and ran with it,” said Chief Ray. “He’s also instrumental in all of our technology needs in the department.”

Ivie said his favorite part of the job is getting to know the community and students better, and letting PD them know that officers are just regular members of the community.

Kristi Bonilla was promoted to sergeant after a written exam with 175 questions and an oral board review. “Everybody that applied did well,” said Ray. “However, Officer Bonilla stood out.”

“Sgt. Bonilla is a top hand when it comes to criminal investigations, patrol work and things of that nature,” he continued. “She knows what to do and has a good head on her shoulders. We’re proud to promote her.”

Bonilla was one of the first officers brought in with the cadet program, starting with Dublin PD in May 2022. She said she was surprised by the promotion but is grateful for the opportunity.

“I look forward to many years with this group of people and the police in our community,” Ray said.
