A chance for the community to meet and interact with their first responders is occurring this Tuesday, Oct. 1 when Dublin hosts its National Night Out celebration.
The free event is open to the entire community and will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Perry Hall, Dublin Housing Authority, at 709 Sheehan Street.
“We want to give back and reach out to the community, to let them know we are here for them,” Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray said.
“We don’t know what someone is going through and we hope when they are having a bad time that they turn to us,” the chief said about the PD’s relationship with the community.
Throughout the nation, NNO is held on the first Tuesday in August, however, that date is moved to October due to high temperatures.
Though it’s not the first time a community-wide NNO event has been held for Dublin, this year’s event marks a relaunch hopefully culminating in a yearly event.
“We really want this to become a yearly event,” Ray said.
This year’s event will feature free hot dogs and popcorn, drug awareness information, bounce houses and emergency vehicles on display along with give-a-ways and a fun familyfriendly night for the entire family along with a chance to meet local law enforcement and other first responders.
This year’s sponsors for the event include Stephenville Area Elk’s Lodge, 6C Custom Leather, Dublin Five Star Dairy Queen, Dublin Sonic, Taco Casa Stephenville, Wal-Mart, H-E-B, First National Bank of Dublin and Bank of Houston-Dublin.
At the event, there will be booths from several organization including Cross Timbers Family Service, Dublin Municipal Court, Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center and the drug awareness trailer from Stephenville Area Elks Lodge. There will also be a fly-in by Careflite.
