Nonprofit to host events in October

Next week the chance to support a great cause is on tap for the Rylan Strong Network with two events – a golf tournament and Wheels of Hope, the third annual benefit car, bike and truck show.

For those unfamiliar with Rylan Strong Network, it’s named for Rylan Pruitt who was diagnosed with Medullomyoblastoma on May 26, 2021. He was the 51st known case of this type of pediatric brain cancer.

Rylan courageously fought a 10 month battle, and won that fight in his own way, gaining his wings, March 10, 2022. His battle against cancer has led to the creation of the Rylan Strong Network by his dad, Mike Pruitt.

The Rylan Strong Network helps fund the funerals of kids who lives have been cut short by cancer, helps fund cancer research specifically for kids, and bucket list items or general financial needs for families with kids battling cancer.

In about 2.5 years, the network has donated more than $15,000 to families in need and traveled to multiple funerals to help families in need as well as assisting in more than seven funerals, Pruitt said.

The Third Annual Benefit Car, Bike and Truck Show will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Red Barrel Bar and Grill, located at 16824 U.S. 377.

The family-friendly event will include a car and motorcycle show, motorcycle audio shootout, inflatables, cornhole tournament, face painting, vendors and a live auction. Admission to the event is $10 and the concert with the Fabulous Blue Aces and Jesse Jennings is $20.

Preregistration is $20 for vehicles in the car, bike and truck show and $50 vendor spots are available.

All tickets can be purchased online at rylanstrongnetwork.org.

The Rylan Strong Network will also be hosting its first annual golf tournament at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at Par Country Club, located at 1689 Hwy. 2861 in Comanche.

There will be four players per team with a max of 18 teams. Fee is $100 per player, and the fee includes a gift bag, cart, barbecue lunch at Red Barrel Bar and Grill and a temporary par membership. Check-in will be at 7:15 a.m. There will be pin prizes, Texas Scramble format and orange ball. Hole sponsorships are available.
