A fun opportunity exists for Veterans through the annual Texas Elks Veteran’s Retreat.
The retreat is being held Oct. 4-6 and the deadline to apply is Sept. 1.
“Join us for a weekend that’s all about good vibes, great company, and honoring those who’ve served our nation!” the Elks state on their website.
According to information provided in the brochure by the Stephenville Area Elks Lodge, Texas Elks Veterans Retreat is dedicated to giving back to the nation’s active duty and veterans by providing a weekend of fun and fellowship in a non-judgmental arena. The activities are geared towards fun and recreation as well as ensuring a safe and friendly environment. Two retreats are held each year with different activities that can accommodate all types of veterans.
“Our volunteers are dedicated to ensuring everyone has a safe and fun filled weekend. We cater to all branches, all ages, male and female and any disability. We can also accommodate service animals,” the brochure states.
The retreat is fully from the Texas Elks State Association and donations from Texas Elks Lodges. There is no cost to the veteran.
Activities include corn hole, bingo/trivia, fishing, kayaking, laporte archery, hiking and a parade.
The camp is held at the Texas Elks Children’s Camp located in Gonzalez.
