LITTLEFIELD
Mark Layne Littlefield, 57, of Dublin, died July 27, 2024, in Fort Worth after a fall. Three people have been given better lives by his donation of organs through Life Gift and he passed while the song, “The Cowboy Rides Away” by George Strait was playing in the operating room.
He was born in Amarillo, Texas, on October 20, 1966, to Susan and Leroy Littlefield. He graduated from Alief Elsik High School in Houston in 1985 and attended Southwest Texas Junior College. His college roommate was Danny Bermea and named his daughter after his friend.
Mark was best described as a cowboy. He loved ranching, working cattle and horses and team roping winning countless belt buckles and other awards.
He was an extremely hard worker and was a partner with his father on their ranch, the 4L Ranch in Houston. More recently he loved to watch the Cowboy Channel and anything that had an association with ranching or being a cowboy.
He lived where ranching took him including Houston, Rosenberg, Richmond, Turkey, and Saint Jo, but always in Texas.
Mark lived most recently at Three Oaks Assisted Living in Dublin and brought joy, laughter and a daily devotional reading to the staff. He brought God to most situations.
He was described as a giver who helped the residents in any way he could find. Mark considered himself more of a staff member than resident giving the staff both personal attention and a lighthearted “hard time” while ruling the roost. Mark made each person feel special and was quick to apologize if he got too passionate about a subject.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Danielle Littlefield Brady and her husband, Matthew, of Stephenville; his son, Layne Littlefield, of Stephenville; his brother, Greg Littlefield and his wife, Stacey, of Camp Wood, Texas; the mother of his children, Tammy Ann Lauran; his uncles, Bill Homer, who was also his godfather, and Jerry Littlefield; his first cousins Tracy Homer, Mary Jo Schacher, Jeannette Homer Blackwell, Joannie Homer, Travis Homer, Roxie McMordie, Russell Littlefield, and Chris Littlefield and a host of other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mark always had a big smile, kind word and an embracing hug followed by a heartfelt “I love you” and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A private family service is planned for a future date. Mark will be buried with his much loved parents and grandparents in the Jericho Cemetery in Jericho, Texas.
