Local dispatcher receives award

The North Central Texas Emergency Communications District (NCT9-1-1) hosted its annual 9-1-1 Gala June 14, in Fort Worth to honor the accomplishments of local 9-1-1 telecommunicators and Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs).

The event brought together representatives from the NCT9-1-1 service area to reflect upon the past year and acknowledge those who went above and beyond. With 200 guests in attendance, the 2024 9-1-1 Gala was a momentous success.

Among those honored was Kerry Parsons, a Dublin High School graduate, with the Stephenville Police Department, who received a Professionalism Award.

The recipients of the 2024 9-1-1 Gala awards were as followed: 

■ 9-1-1 Public Education Professional of the Year Amber Barber with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office

■ 9-1-1 Training Professional of the Year- Michele Weldon with the Weatherford Police Department

■ 9-1-1 Team of the Year Ellis County Sheriff’s Office

■ 9-1-1 Telecommunicator of the Year- Diane Backues with the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office

■ 9-1-1 Supervisor of the Year- Erika Gomez with the Kaufman County Regional Communications Center

■ TDD/TTY Above and Beyond- McKinney Police Department

■ 9-1-1 Agency of the Year Allen Police Department and Wise County Sheriff’s Office

■ Additional Professionalism Awards: Haley Watkins with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Monica Wright with the McKinney Police Department, Megan Ford with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, and Tyler Kennington with the Parker County Hospital District. About the North Central Texas Emergency Communications District (NCT9-1-1) The North Central Texas Emergency Communications District (NCT9-1-1) is responsible for 40 Emergency Communication Centers (ECC) in 14 counties surrounding the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The district supports these ECCs through maintaining and upgrading 9-1-1 equipment, providing up-to-date mapping information, training 9-1-1 telecommunicators, educating the public on the proper use of 9-1-1, and monitoring ECC functionality and compliances. NCT91-1 serves a population of 2 million and 9,800+ square miles.
