July 4th events this week

As Independence Day approaches, Erath County and the surrounding area are getting ready for a variety of exciting events.

The city of Stephenville will be hosting its annual Stars over Stephenville - a Fourth of July Celebration Thursday, July 4 throughout the whole day. All events are free to the public.

The parade will kick off at 9 a.m. and will begin at the South entrance of the park, turn North on Graham, then turn West on Washington. The parade will end at Harbin and Washington. Floats should turn South on Harbin, then turn East onto the South Loop to return to City Park.

Parade check in will begin at 7 a.m. at the main entrance of City Park.

Splashville will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with $3 admission, free face painting and the first 75 people through the gate will receive a free door prize.

The All American Fourth of July will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. at the Stephenville City Park. There will be a tailgate cook off, washer tournament, food trucks and lots of fun for the family.

Larry Joe Taylor & Davin James will perform in the Texstar Ford summer concert from 8-10 p.m. at the Birdsong Amphitheater in Stephenville City Park.

The night will end with a fantastic firework show. The fireworks will be set off from a field in Stephenville City Park and will be able to be seen from miles away.

These events are hosted by the Stephenville Parks and Recreation (SPARD) and they encourage you all to bring your friends and family out to celebrate Fourth of July.

Huckabay Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its July 4th from 4:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

The event will include hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, tea, water and lemonade along with waterslides, live music with a fireworks show to follow. Donations for the department will be accepted all day long.

Nathan Barker and friends will be performing from 5-6:30 p.m. and Tell Runyan Band from 7-9 p.m.

Raffle tickets are available for a landscaping setup including a zero turn mower, a push mower, a blower, a weed eater, a gas can and trailer.

Raffle tickets are also available for a Liberty Gun Safe Colonial Series.

Tickets are one for $20 or six for $100 for either item.

There will also be other on site raffles the day of the event.

Everyone is invited to bring their chairs for a family day of fun.
