Seventeen year old Diego Delacruz was arrested over the weekend in Erath County and remains in jail after a shooting occurred injuring three individuals.
Erath County Sheriff ’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the late night hours of Friday, Jan. 14, according to information released by Sheriff Matt Coates.
Deputies were called to an address off of State Highway 108 north to respond to a domestic. As deputies arrived they discovered a shooting had occurred.
Officers from the Stephenville Police Department, deputies, Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Erath County Fire Department, Erath County EMS, Stephenville Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Ranger also arrived to assist in the investigation.
Investigators discovered three individuals were injured in the shooting one of which was a juvenile. All of the victims were known to the shooter, Chief Deputy Jeremy Woodruff said.
Delacruz fled the scene but was apprehended by law enforcement a short time later. He was arrested and charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon family violence, a first degree felony. He is being held on a $225,000 bond.
The victims are being treated at various hospitals for their injuries.
This case will be turned over to the Erath County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
