Texas Health offers Training for Suicide Prevention
Texas Health Behavioral Health will be offering training for suicide prevention from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at the Erath County Courthouse Annex II Conference Room. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. The training is free and open to everyone.
Library seeking Back to School Fair donations
The Dublin Public Library is seeking donations for its annual Back-to-School Fair set for July 27.
Donations needed include hygiene items (such as hand sanitizer, chap stick, deodorant, shampoo etc.), Clorox wipes and tissue as well as new socks, along with new or like-new makeup bags.
Financial donations are also being accepted.
Donations can be dropped off at the Dublin Public Library from now through July 20.
The library is located at 206 W. Blackjack St.
Comanche Museum hosts events
Comanche Museum is hosting a “Granny Reads to Kids” event at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 6 along with “Old Fashioned Games Day at the Museum.” The museum has a new selection of interesting kids books as well as a display of pictures that were painted by local artists about local areas of Comanche County. The museum also has the Paintings of Bernice Jones which were donated to the Museum. (Granny will return to read on July 11 at 3 p.m.) Everyone is invited to enjoy summer in the Cool Museum. The museum is located at 402 Moorman Rd.

VBS set for Double N Cowboy Church
Double N’ Cowboy Church will host its Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. Monday, June 17 through Thursday, June 20. The SCUBA – Diving into Friendship with God- themed VBS is open to kids pre-K through 6th grade and will include crafts, music, meals, games and fun. Registration is open at 5:30 p.m. before VBS begins. The church is located at 7202 E. State Hwy. 6 in Dublin.
ECGS to host afternoon of research at Dublin Public Library June 12
You are invited to enjoy an afternoon of family history research at the Dublin Public Library Wednesday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers with the Erath County Genealogical Society will be on hand to assist. Familiarize with resources available in the Janella Hendon Genealogy Room or get started with your family tree. Spend the afternoon visiting with folks who enjoy the hunt for history. The ECGS Collection includes materials on Genealogy Help, Foreign Countries, USA, Native American, Civil War, U.S. States, Texas Counties, Family Surnames, Erath and regional histories of families, communities, cemeteries, and locally significant rare and out of print histories.
Summer Meals Program offered
Dublin ISD is once again hosting their summer meals program at Dublin Intermediate School through Thursday, June 27 Monday through Thursday. Children and teens ages 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old can eat healthy throughout the summer at no cost. Breakfast is served Monday through Thursday from 7-8 a.m. and Lunch Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Men’s Health community program set Saturday, June 22
Texas Health is partnering with other community organizations to host Man Up for Men’s Health from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 22 at Stephenville Senior Center, located at 164 E. College Street.
June is Men’s Health Awareness Month, so join Texas Health, Main Street Stephenville, city of Stephenville and Texas A&M Agrilife Extension for a free come-and-go community program focused on issues that affect men’s health.
There will be refreshments provided, resource vendors, door prize drawings and a variety of speakers.
The free event is open to men of all ages.
Blood drive schedule for June 23
The Dublin Rotary Club is sponsoring a blood drive in honor of Josey Roman from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 23.
The Carter BloodCare Bus will be at the Station next to the First National Bank in Dublin, located at 825 N. Patrick. To schedule an appointment go to carterbloodcare.org or text CBCdonate to 999-777. Those who donate will receive a pack of cups, while supplies last.
First Baptist Church to host VBS
First Baptist Church will be hosting VBS from 6-8:30 p.m. July 8-11. The SCUBA – Diving into Friendship with God- themed VBS is open to kids ages 4 to completed 6th grade. Family night will be July 11. The church is located at 220 E. Live Oak Street.
