The life of an area teen was claimed in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 30 after a single vehicle accident occurred following a police chase.
According to the information released by DPS, at approximately 12:30 a.m. the Stephenville Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a reckless driver.
According to Stephenville PD, an officer observed a vehicle on West Washington Street committing multiple traffic violations. The vehicle did not display license plates, was driving on the wrong side of the road, was being operated extremely recklessly and at speeds in excess of 100 mph, SPD said in a press release.
The driver continued to drive recklessly, evading police, leading to a traffic crash on FM 914, approximately three miles south of Stephenville, DPS said.
The driver was killed in the traffic crash and three passengers were injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting with the traffic crash investigation.
The driver and passengers were juveniles, and their names will not be released, DPS said. This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time.
