'That's Art' concludes this weekend
“That’s Art” will be at the DeLeon Area Historical Museum from now through Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p. m.
Art comes in many forms. It might be oil painting, water color, pastels, charcoal, wood work, needlework, pottery, stained glass, metal work, leather, and much more. It can be old or new. It can be something you created, something passed down in your family or something you purchased. It can be something you treasure or not.
It is not judged; it is simply a show that is open for anyone. The museum is located at 173 N. Texas Street.
Summer Meals Program offered
Dublin ISD will once again be hosting their summer meals program at Dublin Intermediate School from Monday, June 3 through Thursday, June 27 Monday through Thursday.
Children and teens ages 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old can eat healthy throughout the summer at no cost.
Breakfast is served Monday through Thursday from 7-8 a.m. and Lunch Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Library seeking Back to School Fair donations
The Dublin Public Library is seeking donations for its annual Back-to-School Fair set for July 27.
Donations needed include hygiene items (such as hand sanitizer, chapstick, deodorant, shampoo etc.) Clorox wipes and tissue as well as new socks, along with new or like-new makeup bags.
Financial donations are also being accepted.
Donations can be dropped off at the Dublin Public Library from now through July 20.
The library is located at 206 W. Blackjack St.
Comanche Museum hosts events
Comanche Museum is hosting a "Granny Reads to Kids" event at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 6 along with "Old Fashioned Games Day at the Museum."
The museum has a new selection of interesting kids books as well as a display of pictures that were painted by local artists about local areas of Comanche County. The museum also has the Paintings of Bernice Jones which were donated to the Museum. (Granny will return to read on July 11 at 3 p.m.)
Everyone is invited to enjoy summer in the Cool Museum. The museum is located at 402 Moorman Rd. For more information call 325-356-5115.
Carlton Cemetery Association to meet Saturday, June 1
The Carlton Cemetery Association is having its annual business meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1. There will be doughnuts and coffee at the Pavilion at 8:30 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to come and bring folding chairs for the meeting and fellowship time.
Proctor VFD to host fish fry June 1
Proctor Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its annual fish fry fundraiser starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1. There are multiple raffles available and a live auction that begins at 7 p.m. Fish Fry meals are based on donations.
The fish fry will be held at the Proctor Community Center (565 Texas Avenue in Proctor).
One raffle is a Stihl RZ152 Zero-Turn mower with Top Hat Trailer (52" cut width - 25 HP Briggs & Stratton engine - 14' x 77" trailer with ramp and dovetail). Raffle tickets are one ticket for $20 or three for $50.
There are two gun raffles: a Mossberg Silver Edition 12 Gauge O/U Shotgun (28" Barrel Length - 3" Chamber) and a DPMS DA-15 AR-15 556 NATO/.223 - Stainless Barrel. Tickets are one for $10 or six for $50. (Winner must pass background check to claim gun prize).
ECGS to host afternoon of family history research at Dublin Public Library June 12
You are invited to enjoy an afternoon of family history research at the Dublin Public Library on Wednesday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Volunteers with the Erath County Genealogical Society will be on hand to assist.
Familiarize with resources available in the Janella Hendon Genealogy Room or get started with your family tree.
Spend the afternoon visiting with folks who enjoy the hunt for history.
The ECGS Collection includes materials on Genealogy Help, Foreign Countries, USA, Native American, Civil War, U.S. States, Texas Counties, Family Surnames, Erath and regional histories of families, communities, businesses, churches, schools, cemeteries, and locally significant rare and out of print histories.
Dublin Public Library is an FamilySearch Affiliate Library with online access to the world’s largest free genealogical library.
