The Dublin Woman’s Thursday Club gathered for their last meeting of the 202324 study cycle Thursday, May 9. Rain threatened as members arrived just ahead of heavy rain and brief hail.
The First Methodist Church welcomed the ladies for this meeting.
With 15 members present along with one guest, President Fran Jurney called the meeting order and led the group in the club collect. Leta Sage, chairman of the scholarship committee, then introduced this year’s recipient.
Karina Ortega is a senior at Dublin High School, graduating in just a few days. She will attend UTA, and the club was delighted to meet her and learn more about her and her plans.
A roll call and reading of the minutes by Secretary Judith Lemons followed, with Treasurer Judy Lunsford then bringing the treasurer’s report for this outgoing meeting.
With regrets the resignation of Penny Corona was accepted. A new Library committee was formed to help the Dublin Public Library with Summer Reading and the Back-to-School Fair as well as any other assistance needed.
New officers were installed: President-Judith Lemons, Vice-President-Wyndi Veigel-Gaudette, Recording Secretary-Janet Pino, Corresponding Secretary-Wanice Brown, Treasurer-Dana Herod, Engineer-Edilisa Jimenez, Parliamentarian-Leta Sage, Censor-Patty Hirst, Reporter-Denise Weems. Incoming President Judith Lemons asked for help from the members for her President’s Project which will be assisting the Dublin Historical Museum. She handed out copies of articles from the Dublin Citizen’s “Museum Matters” for work to begin. The meeting was adjourned at 5:59 p.m. A new two-year cycle for the club will begin in September.
