Backwoods was filled with 90’s rock and community support as the first official Revitalize Dublin fundraiser pushed past its $5,000 goal to raise $7,000.
“We are completely blown away with the generosity of the community,” said Revitalize Dublin’s Lori Beggs.
No Doubt, 90’s cover band One Headlight acted as Stone Temple Pilots for this Eve (6) as they guided their (Pearl) Jam listeners to Nirvana. (Eagle-eyed readers can figure out some of the acts they covered with that sentence.)
The fundraising was also bolstered a large variety of silent auction items donated by local businesses and Backwoods donating 20 % of sales made during the event.
Funds were also raised as guys showed off their gams in the Mr. Legs contest with RD founder Rod McNeal taking home the bragging rights.
Donations were also being taken in the back as the clear skies allowed El Mero Mero Terito to set up a mechanical bull in the fenced backyard.
“At the end of the night when everything was tallied our grand total that was raised was $6,933,” said Beggs. “But at the last minute Backwoods owner/manager Ryan Scheid stepped up and said that he would cover that extra $67 to make it an even $7,000!”
She also thanked Prime Metal and ABF Packing for their donations as well as VIP table purchasers and Deanna Turley for providing floral centerpieces.
Beggs said the nonprofit group would like to put this money back into the community.
“We need projects,” she said in a Facebook post. “What do think will make the biggest impact? We want to hear from you! We have ideas, but we value the input of the citizens. Just remember, we can’t do it all, but we are ready to take the best ideas and run with it!”
