Like all agriculture, sheep and goat producers were hit hard by last year’s drought. However, sheep and goat production are still a large agriculture commodity for the county and area and with smaller acreages, it may increase even more. Comanche County sheep and goat sales have averaged around $2.
The Dublin High School One Act Play is advancing to Area after placing second in Bi-District competition at Graham last weekend with their production of “A Monster Calls.”Other awards picked up by the team included: Best Actor (Ryan DiCiccio), All-Star Cast (Elizabeth Reed and Patience Cutler), Honorable Mention Cast (Jeffery Cervantes) and Tech Award (Jenna Ary). It can easily be said that the dynamic duo of Lenora Davidson and Orion Gallagher embrace all things Celtic and with a recent trip to Ireland, the luck of the Irish was upon them.
With the invention of motor cars, ladies hats had to be modified in order to stay on, with the inclusion of a scarf from 1907-1919. This group of stylish ladies visited the Edmund Photography Studio in downtown Dublin to be photographed. The woman on the far left is Ellen Harris as identified by her granddaughter in 2010. With motor cars coming of age just after the turn of the century, ladies hats had to make a change. A horse or a wagon generally did not go very fast, so ladies could wear the current fashion hats without a problem. But with motor cars they might travel upwards of 40 miles an hour.
