Museum Matters

The old Parish Hall at the Trinity Church was used for a number of years for programs for local students. I remember taking a 4-H cooking class there hosted by Ann Gibson. I learned to make peanut butter cookies in the little stove that sat in the corner.

UCS connects 20k subscribers

After starting from scratch in 2020 and forging ahead at a record-setting pace, United Cooperative Services announced the connection of its 20,000th subscriber to its high-speed internet. United reached the milestone in only 38 months after connecting its first highspeed internet subscribers.

Emergency services responded to a two vehicle accident Saturday, Sept. 30 at the corner of Clinton and Patrick. No one was injured in the wreck.

Wreck injures one on loop

Emergency services responded to a two vehicle accident on Wednesday, Sept. 27 on U.S. 67. According to information released by the Department of Public Safety, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sept. 27, Texas State Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle traffic crash on U.S. 67 in the area of CR 234.

Sept. 18 There was an agency assist with the fire marshal on FM 219/377. There was a white Chevrolet pickup driving on the shoulder. An officer located the vehicle pulling into Chigger Ranch. The officer made contact with the driver and observed multiple open alcohol containers.

Library fundraisers continue

The Dublin Public Library is hosting a couple of fundraisers this fall including “Tell Your Spooky Story” and “Tiny Art Showcase.” With “Tell Your Spooky Story” businesses and individuals are invited to pick a favorite creepy classic and create an outdoor display in honor of it.

Chambers offer women in business summit

The Dublin and Comanche Chambers of Commerce are joining to host Professional Business Women of Central Texas Women Empowering Women Summit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Dove Creek Ranch (5470 Co Rd 351, Dublin).

McCarthy ousted as Speaker of the House

Texas Republicans joined together to support U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s leadership on Tuesday — but it wasn’t enough to save the Californian from becoming the first leader of the chamber in American history to be removed from the position.
