A single vehicle motorcycle wreck ended in a double fatality in Comanche County last week.
According to information released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the wreck occurred at 12:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 on Farmto- Market Road 1469, six miles northwest of DeLeon. A 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3, tri-wheel motorcycle driven by Leslie Ranae Mitchell, 54, from DeLeon was traveling south on FM 1496 along with passenger Nancy Menzdorf Chapman, 68, of Stephenville.
According to DPS, the bike drove across the northbound lane,intotheshoulder,crossing aprivatedriveway.Preliminary reports state Mitchell lost control and started into a side skid, striking a mailbox and rolling, throwing both the driver and passenger off the bike. Investigators suspect the driver experienced a medical issue.
Both the driver and passenger were killed in the crash and pronounced at the scene by Justice of the Peace Johnny Connie. The wreck was investigated by Texas Highway Patrol Troopers Troy H. Erichsen and Chris Delgado.
