A mother-daughter duo is now bringing delicious homemade sandwiches and other foods at a newly opened Dublin eatery – Wich Kids Sandwich Shop.

Rachel Williams Maddry and her daughter Kailyn Williams decided to open Wich Kids inside Grafton Market (located at 118 S. Grafton, Suite C). Maddry hasn’t had an easy year as she has worked through her own battle with thyroid cancer, but she knew being surrounded by family and with good, homemade food would make things better.

With an open kitchen concept, a wide variety of sandwiches, soups and even homemade cookies, both Maddry and Williams hopes that people will feel invited to stay in the space and come hang out in the family-friendly environment.

“We wanted something that felt like home,” Maddry said.

As the mom of 10 kids, numerous bonus kids and 24 grandkids, Maddry knows how important good food with a reasonable cost is for families.

“It’s truly God’s timing,” Williams said.

Along with Williams’ child Nora, the kids and grandkids also stop by after school and are learning about money management through the business.

Sandwich offerings include an ultimate grilled cheese, chicken salad sandwich and a wide variety of other culinary delights named after the kids. One of the most popular – The Vernon- includes grilled turkey, candied bacon, green chilis and cheddar cheese, all on homemade sourdough bread.

The duo makes all the sourdough bread themselves along with a variety of cookies including peanut butter, chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia nut.

“A lot of it is comfort food,” Williams said.

The eatery will also be makingsoupsasDublinmoves into the colder months.

Sandwiches range from $6.99 to $8.99 and a Brown Bag special can be added for $3, which includes the sandwich, chips, drink and a cookie.

Wich Kids serves Dublin Bottling Works Sodas, ice tea and lemonade.

The eatery will also be offering loyalty punch cards with every 10th sandwich being free. They will also be doing deliveries to Dublin schools and local delivery is possible, depending on how busy the sandwich shop is.

A community calendar is featured in the shop on one wall in order to keep the community in the know.

“We want to promote our community and keeping money in the community is good for everyone,” Maddry said. Every Friday, the eatery will have clearance day in order to get rid of what is not sold during the week or loaves of bread that are not in perfect slicing condition.

The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and specials can be located on the business’ social media pages on Facebook or Instagram.
