The local area has many great dairy operations with some offering unique products and tours to educate visitors about the benefits of the dairy industry and nutrition. One such business is Volleman’s Family Farm in Comanche County.
At Volleman’s Family Farm, they celebrate all things dairy year-round. Not only are there delicious, glass-bottle products available for sale in many local stores in the area, but they also have a passion for sharing and educating Texans about agriculture and life on their family farm.
The Volleman family’s dairy heritage can be traced all the way back to 1890, where it began in the small European countries of Holland and Luxembourg. In 1993, Frank and Annette Volleman made the decision to move their family of four to Texas to start their own dairy farm in Gustine. Almost 30 years later, they are still providing fresh milk to families across Texas.
Dairy farming is something the Vollemans love sharing about to their customers and followers through their products and social media channels. A couple of years ago, they made the decision to expand it even further by providing tours of their own family farm to allow customers to see first-hand where their milk comes from.
Once a month, Volleman’s opens their doors to the public to tour their creamery as well as their dairy farm. From seeing where the milk is processed and sampling different milk flavors to experiencing a day on the farm with their lovely ladies and calves, there is sure to be excitement for all ages. The tours are guided by the Vollemans themselves, so attendees get to learn everything “dairy” from the family.
While June may be National Dairy Month, don’t forget to celebrate all the great things about dairy every month by grabbing a nice cold bottle of Volleman’s milk at Thompson’s Custom Meats, Grafton Market, or Bigs in Dublin.
