Dec. 27, 1946

The Erath County Vocations School for Veterans was meeting three times weekly at Dublin High School with 20 students enrolled. John C. Wilson was leading a business administration class. Students were also provided lessons in English and Developing Personality.

Private First Class Weldon J. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Smith of Dublin, graduated from the Mechanics School at Keesler Field, covering airplane and engine mechanic operations.

Dec. 23, 1971

Marty Tompkins, a 1970 graduate of Dublin High School was named Rookie of the Year at the Oklahoma City National Finals Rodeo and GRA Barrell Race. The Dublin Auction Sale Barn moved 744 head of cattle in its sale on Dec. 17, 1971.

Dec. 24, 1996

A fire, caused by a natural gas heater igniting a spilled flammable substance, destroyed Sorrel’s Mobil Station, delivering an estimated $50,000 to $80,000 in damages.

The Zambian Acapella Boys Choir was presenting a Christmas Eve concert in the Dublin High School auditorium. The group was previously hosted in coming to Dublin by Cottonwood Baptist Church.
