Dec. 2, 1921

The Edmonds Studio was exhibiting a collection by Dublin artist W.E. Bryan including a portrait of Miss Kaufman which was given a $1,400 academy prize scholarship by the Cincinnati Academy.

D.J. Brewer, formerly of Ballinger, moved to Dublin to open the Utterback & Harris tin shop where he was to conduct plumbing and sheet metal work.

75 Years Ago

Dec. 6, 1946

The Dublin Development Club announced that Santa Claus was due to visit Dublin on Dec. 20 and 21 in conjunction with a free show at the Majestic Theatre for area children. Kids could take in the free movie and then meet Santa, who had a free gift for each child in attendance, Jane Ellen Hurst of Dublin was reported as playing with the orchestra and as a member of the glee club and choir for Texas State Southwest College in San Marcos.

Dec. 2 1971

The Senior Class at DHS was hosting a barbecue supper. For a ticket price of $1, guests would get BBQ, potato salad, baked beans, rolls, assorted relishes, tea and milk.

Dec. 5, 1996

Becky Farrar of Hico was calling for a recount in the election of State Representative, District 59 after she received 49.4 percent of votes while incumbent Allen Place received 49.7 percent.

Greens Creek Methodist Church was celebrating its 120th anniversary and recent renovations with a rededication ceremony on Dec. 8. The church has been its present building at its site since 1907, but the GC Sunday School started meeting in a one-room log cabin in 1876. The GC Methodist Church was officially organized in 1879 with the current building constructed in 1882 and moved to the current site in 1907.
